Our Story

Sydney has been passionate about animals and showing off farm life as long as she can remember.
She is a fourth-generation farmer in Lancaster, Ohio, and her love for animals grew during her 4-H days as a child. She started bringing anyone she could to the farm in high school, showing them how to feed and care for the animals. That continued during her college years at Otterbein University, when she showed off what farm life is to friends who had never stepped foot in a barn.
Sydney knew she had to make big life choices to ensure her family’s farm tradition continued. When her first son, Leo, was born, she started planning her dream of continuing the family tradition. After countless conversations with her grandfather, Bud Hines, the idea of Rising Sons Farm & Event Center was born!
Her grandfather moved to the area nearly 80 years ago, and has acquired nearly 1,000 acres of land and 200 head of cattle. Sydney and Bud talked about the barn and event center for years, and when he came out of open heart surgery, he told Sydney is was time to make her dream come true because “life isn’t going to wait.”
Sydney’s dad, Dusty Hines, never let Sydney doubt her dreams and worked countless hours to help get the business up and running. None of this would be possible without him!
Sydney is not only passionate about getting her three boys actively involved in farm life, but she is also passionate about opening the farm for others to enjoy and experience the country life she loves so much.
